Five years ago, when I first went to college during what should have been my junior year I had a very different lifestyle. I had only been dating my boyfriend for three years and we had just moved in together, living with his band in a huge house off Monroe Ave. We had punk shows in our basement every week with bands sleeping in our four-couch living room. For dinner we would order at least two cheap large pizzas every Monday night. A carefree, "just moved out of the parent's house" attitude that most students currently have.
My lifestyle now, as an actual junior in college is relatively quiet compared to five years ago. My boyfriend and I have been together for eight years now. We've owned a dog together for the past four years. We treat her like a child. We spend most of our time walking her, cooking, watching movies, and traveling to see friends and family.
I feel that this series is a retrospective of my current life and reflects a certain detachment from my peers at school. The images are quiet and show an intimate look at my daily life. They focus on the people I care about and the places I go.
