I grew up in a working class family that struggled to stay in a comfortable middle class neighborhood. I felt like everything was a façade and no one would have suspected something was amiss. Many family dinners were not eaten at the table, and plenty of meals came from a box.

Through photography, I am seeking authenticity as a form of empowerment by reconciling myself with the past by emphasizing intimacy and the kitchen. I examine domestic spaces and other environments that combine ephemerality and intimacy with uncertainty and tension. Quiet and bittersweet moments are seen through gestures and visceral instances.
